The first place to start is finding out what your score is and what shows on your reports.

To get a free report from each agency- (just choose the button that says you were declined credit.)
Here are the numbers:
EQUIFAX-- 800-685-1111
EXPERIAN-- 800-311-4769
TRANSUNION-- 800-888-4213
and a 4th one:INNOVIS-- 800-457-0247

And for your score there are two ways to check it:
for a fee of 10.36(for each credit reports score) using code(valuedcustomer) you can go to
www.myfico.com - the official score info.

And for $1 for two months of review(remember to remove in 2months or you pay $179)- go to
www.privacyguard.com - the non official site that comes pretty close
